“Syzygy” is built around a composition for the ensemble, interspersed by single voice--the first violin-- improvising along the lines of the meta raga framework leading to conversations of the ensemble where the second violin, the jazz bass and the tabla yoke together with the first violin various elements of Indian and western music. The solo voice leads to a conversation of the ensemble involving modulation, counterpoint and a rhythmic coda seen in Indian classical music, but with key changes moving through various tonal centers in the last part of the finale.
